The calculator multiplies your lodging cost by the number of nights, adds your per-person daily costs (food, local transport, and activities) across every traveler and every day, and adds the round-trip cost of getting to the town for each person. It then shows the grand total along with the cost per person, per day, and per person per day.
Is lodging per person or per room?
Lodging is entered as the total per night for the whole stay — a room or apartment — because that's how most hill-town guesthouses and rentals price it. Food, transport, and activities are entered per person per day, since those scale with how many of you are travelling.
Why does slow travel usually cost less per day?
Staying put in one village for several nights often unlocks weekly rates, lets you cook some meals, and cuts the constant expense of long transfers between destinations. Spreading a fixed arrival cost over a longer stay also lowers the per-day figure, which is why the calculator highlights cost per day and per person per day.
